Guy’s Good News

There are two parts to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Each part includes Christ’s work for man and man’s acceptable faith response.  There is also eyewitness evidence to each part.

God’s Work for Man

Christ died on the cross as a substitute (in man’s place) making full payment for man’s sin debt.

Eyewitness Evidence

After the crucifixion, Christ was placed in a tomb.

Man’s Response by Faith

Since Christ died for all my sins (past, present and future), I have died to sin with Christ.  There is no sin Christ has not paid for.

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.  Galatians 2:20 NASB

God’s Work for Man

Christ rose from the dead three 24-hour days after Passover.  Passover that year (likely 30 A.D.) was on a Wednesday and Christ rose from the dead Saturday evening about 6:00 p.m. local Jerusalem time.

Eyewitness Evidence

Sunday morning, Christ’s tomb was found empty.  Christ resurrected appeared to many witnesses.

Man’s Response by Faith

I am dead to sin, having died to sin with Christ, and by faith have been raised from the dead onto new spiritual life with God. I am, by faith, spiritually born or born again.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Peter 1:3 NASB

Water Immersion Baptism

The water baptism re-enforces our faith response. Having died to sin is represented by immersion.  Having been raised onto new spiritual life is represented by the egression.  The water baptism is our petition to God for a pure heart.

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:3 and 6:4, NASB
